Does anyone know if there are any Triaxial Shear Test questions on the Morning Geotech Breadth portion of the Civil PE? The CERM's sample question book seems to really stress this topic.
Thanks!
Yes, It's good to know. You never know what is asked in exam.
Refer to following
Types of Tests
•There are three types of tests:
1.Unconsolidated-undrained (UU or Q) Test
2.Consolidated-undrained (CU or R) Test
3.Consolidated-drained (CD or S) Test
Unconsolidated-undrained Test
•This test is also called the quick test.
•UU test simulates short termshear strength for cohesive soils.
Consolidated-undrainedTest
This test can simulates long termas well as short termshear strength for cohesive soils if pore water pressure is measuredduring the shearing phase
Consolidated-drainedTest
•Also called slow test.
•This test simulates long term shear strength for cohesive soils.
