Parent teacher conference went swell.

we had our first one tuesday night. minisnick is a technology freak, that follows directions perfectly, has amazing pattern recognition, but calls a square a box and doesn't perform on command (i.e. continually repeat numbers and letters when asked).

The conferences, as they've gone on, have started to really focus on academics. In kindergarten social skills are as big of an issue as numbers so we had lots of "Your kid is great!" and we high fived and left. Now we're into the nitty gritty of "he can start a story and build on it, but the ending doesn't have pizzazz." That's common core for you, folks. Second graders need to finish a story with flourish so you'll stand in line for the next installment and dress in costume for the movie opening.

^that's so subjective...what is lacking pizzazz for one person is a best seller to someone else...one of the very reasons i hated english class.
