There's a Leadership program here at work that I am applying for. It's put on by the education & development department and it's a very difficult program to get into.

I have pink shoes but they are heeled sandals, so a no-no for work. Sometimes I wear pink jeans on Friday. They look fabulous with my steel toes.

Apparently, our business requires seriousness Monday thru Thursday, but on Fridays, everything changes and jeans are ok. They are also ok as a gimmic to get people to donate to a food/toy/school supplies drive.

Dressing up is very much outside my comfort zone. Before this job I owned 5 pairs of steel toed boots, a pair of kevlar and a pair of camo snake boots. In the last 6 weeks I've bought 5 pairs of dress shoes, and pulled quite a few from the back of my closet. I've worn more skirts in the last 6 weeks then probably the last 10 years. But, it does kinda give me a chance to feel pretty at work without everyone asking me if I had a job interview or if my husband had been gone and was gonna come home that day.
