It asks how many thyristors are required for a 3-phase full wave rectifier...the answer is 6...but i thought full wave rectifers were made of diodes? Does it also take 6 diodes to make a 3 phase rectifier? How many thyristors needed for a 1 phase rectifier? 2?

thisnk about it this way:

Single phase: 2 thyristors/Diodes to make full wave rectification.

Three phase: 2*3 = 6

Thyristors are diodes with gate for firing angle control.
