in a question about secondary compression,

i saw that they calculated

tp=H^2/Cv

shouldnt this be multiplied by Tv also?

this is a question from Testmasters notes, exercise 30

and then they use 1/4 of the total H for drainge length, they must use H/2 dont they? (when there is clay underneath and sand aboe, so only one way drainage)

I am not familiar with this problem. However, time factor (Tv) should be = cv*t/d^2.

Also, if it is a single drainage case then the drainage path = d = total thickness of the compressibe stratum. For double drainage the drainage path = d = 1/2 of the thickness of the compressible stratum.

What's underneath the clay?
