Position Title = Project Engineer (MEP)

Education Required = Associates degree in ME or EE Required

Years Experience Required = Minimum five years experience in mechanical or electrical engineering required

Position Description =

The primary area of focus of the Project Engineer will be to design and manage all aspects of the MEP engineering projects and will be responsible for coordinating design and production activities to meet the client schedules.

Primary Responsibilities

- Function as engineering design lead throughout all project phases including, planning, construction and occupancy for issues of scheduling, scope and other function.

- Maintain schedule, fee budget, project budget and quality expectations.

- Coordinate and administer the activities of the project consultants and design team.

Primary Duties

- Adhere to established project goals and objectives including but not limited to schedule and budget parameters

- Conduct existing conditions surveys and prepare engineering base plans, sections, elevations and details as appropriate to

document relevant conditions

- Review applicable building codes and develop a list of criteria to be reflected in the design documents.

- Assist in the design of building mechanical, electrical or plumbing systems that accomplish the design intent.

- Confer with the Project Designers, as needed, to ensure consistency with both company project and quality standards,

accomplish the design intent, and code compliance

- Monitor the team’s performance against the work plan and project schedule

- Attend client meetings, regular project status meetings, and presentations as required

- Validate that the design recommendation are consistent with the approved project budget, when variances occur

- Communicate clearly that the client is the primary priority and encourage all team members to conduct themselves in

accordance with that priority

Skill Requirements

- Possess a thorough knowledge of design and production procedures and processes as well as internal quality assurance

processes.

- Demonstrated abilities with regard to project execution and administration

- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and staff and have the people skills required to effectively negotiate

- Ability to motivate and supervise the work of others

- Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and graphic communication skills

- Broad based understanding of CAD, word-processing, project management and spreadsheet software

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations concurrently

- Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

- Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration procedures for professional services and consultants
