So I am scheduled to take a review class in Seattle at UW for the the civil pe. But that requires driving 150 miles one way over 2 pass for a night class from 7 to 9:30 on Tues & Thurs starting next week through April 10th. I am pondering if my time and money would not be better spend getting a cd review course instead. The price is about the same and I don't have to spend 12 hour a week driving and pay for gas and everything else involved. I also wonder what I will loose in studying due to driving and generally being tired. Unfortunately I still have to squeeze work in here someplace too. :screwloose:

So I come here for some some advice and thoughts on the offering out there.

"the other board" has this one:

Civil PE Exam Review on CD-ROM (with on-line access). Version 5.1(CVCD4) For $645

NSPE has one as doe ASCE Both for $645.

First question are any worth the $$ I am a verbal learner and realize I need that liitle nudge of someone showing how to do problems and what to look for in the way of tips and tricks and I know I need something more than just studying the seaming ever growing pile of references and doing problems.

If this is a worthy and equitable route to go in the sense of getting as good or close to as good of information as going to a regular review class which one of these review cd sets is considered the best?

If I lived in Seattle it would be a no brainer, but I have to balance any gain from the class with the general loss of time and energy during travel.

Thanks in advance and thoughts are much appreciated.

The cd's helped me some, because you could reptetively work thru the same type problems with new numbers until you got it. If you couldn't get the answer you could hit the instructor button and he would explain it to you. :screwloose:

Thanks Traffic,

I am leaning more towards doing this take me $30 hit for dropping the class and ordering the CDs today. The thought of the drive twice a week is becoming less and less appealing as the class grows closer and does not seem as practical at this point.

which cds did you use? Trying to decided which one would be the best.

Well I bit the bullet and pulled the plug on the review class and ordered the CDs and with it the online version. My first impressions are it won't be as good as a live person reviewing the course. But it seems to cover the basics very well and approaches to problem solving and in my case where it might lack in the personal touch I gain from not having to lose 12 hours a week commuting.

I will give a full review once I go through it all and see how it helps the study process.
