Hi,

I passed the PE exam in Wisconsin in April of 2006. I am a structural engineer, so that exam is suitable for many states to be licensed. However, I do eventually need to be registered in Illinois, so I need to take the SE exam in the spring.

I was going to take the exam in the Spring of 2007, but was told by Wisconsin DRL that I could not take the SE in Wisconsin since I had passed the PE in Wisconsin. Does this make sense to anyone or has this happened to others? The reason I would like to take it in WI is simply for convenience. My parents live 1/2 hr from a Wisconsin testing site with low traffic and easy parking. Otherwise I will have to travel hours to a strange city to take the exact same test offered in WI!

Any input?? Thanks,

-k

Do not you need wait for at least 2 or 3 years to take SE after your PE?

It will be 2 yrs in April, where do I find that info? Thanks, -k

knelli,

I'm not quite sure what the WI board is trying to do to you. I was able to take both the SEI and SEII in Minnesota. The only requirements were just having 4 years of experience and I didn't have to wait in between passing either exam before I could take another one. Also, you need not take the structural exams in IL in order to get an SE license there. (It is nice that you can take both during the same exam season though.)

There is a lot of info that you can take a look at.

Thanks Kevo!

I'm going to apply through the cps website and see what happens from there..... I should have taken it last year before the code changes! Oh well, I'm going to take the SEAOI review course so that should help!
