Thanks!!Congrats to all new NY PE's
can somebody here give me tips from what books to study and bring during the PE exam?
What books needed CERM, Struct depth, Codes, etc.?
I will write it in NY PE Civil/Struct Depth on Oct 2008, please do give me advice guys and thank you very much.
The answer to your question is: yes, yes, and yes. CERM is invaluable in the morning session and is really the only book I needed. For the afternoon, bring every code you're remotely familiar with. My theory was, if I'd never seen the code before it probably wouldn't do me much good... but if I knew it at all, it might come in handy. The structural depth book was a great study aid.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend bringing any textbooks unless you are VERY familiar with them. They take valuable time to look through, and the questions are simple enough where if you don't know vaguely how to solve them, you're going to have a hard time figuring it out during the test anyway. It's really more a matter of having all the codes and knowing where to look up requirements and tables.
Good luck!
