It's been a month and am still waiting...how long did it take others to get their license?

The board only meets once a month so, if it somehow didn't make the agenda for one month you might need to wait until the next meeting.

Factor in some time given that MA uses a 3rd party credential system to handle and process the paperwork, before passing it onto the state board. If I recall from a few years ago, the service is in TN, so not exacly around the corner from here.

^ Like VT said they use

you'll find the link from the MA Board site for applications b comity.

From the Professional Service FAQ:

How long does it take to get approved for Comity in MA?

Once the application is complete it will be forwarded to the MA. Board for review. It usually will not take more than 2-3 months for a decision from the Board, however it is generally recommended to allow up to six months for a decision. Applications are reviewed by the Board at each monthly meeting, on a first come, first served basis.

The Commonwealth moves very slowly.

I am doing the reciprocity in NY. I send my all application package by Mid of Jan, 2011. NY received my package and withdraw the money by The end of Jan, 2011. I also requst CA board send my score and PE license to NY Mid of Jan, 2011. NY received by end of Jan, 2011. ...NY send every thing to NY state board to review my experience and all other related information by early Feb, 2011....The NY state board said that it is going to be 4 to 12 weeks review period. (It will start from EARLY FEB....IT IS NOT FROM MID-JAN).......so the time will be end of April, 2011.

Annyway they change their speech again...it is 4 to 16 weeks now...The lady said it is going to be first week of June..............

I don't want to paid extra renew fee in CA and NCEES record annual fee...so I decide to do reciprocity in NY.

^NY is fairly draconian when it comes to licensure.

I took the exam in Vermont, and there were a number of New Yorkers there, as it is easier to get approved to take it in VT. Also, the continuing ed requirements are a bitch. You can't just go to a seminar and call it PDH hours. Everything needs to be pre-appoved by the state board.

I got licensed by reciprocity in NY, as I had experience working under their regulatory system, which was desirable to the firm I worked for at the time. It took 9 months and they made me validate my elementary education experience. I'm not even kidding. That's bad enough to start with. But the real kick in the shorts was the fact that I WENT TO A NY PUBLIC SCHOOL for elementary ed. Like I failed finger painting 101 or something.

I read that you can get a 'temporary permit' with MASS which is processed in three business days. And IF you send the temporary permit paperwork with the 'full comity' application then the temporary permit will not expire until you are approved for a regular license by the board. (If you submit only 'temporary permit' you are only active for 30 days). I also read that you would 'seal' your work with your home state seal, in my case NJ, and then write under it 'Mass. temp. permit #xxxx'.

Does anywone have any experience with this? I have a project I'm working on in MASS, my client is hoping I can sign off on everything however at the moment we have a deal worked out with a friend PE in MASS.
