North Dakota native.

It's not like he has anything better to do.

I have not had to renew yet but I am guessing the process will not be that onerus. I would make sure that my employer or my client was paying for thoes renewal fees. Lets say 200$ a state every 2 years, thats 10 grand every 2 years. I Would make sure that was writen into my contracts as well as the E&O insurance that would be required for all thoes states. I could see how that would be advantagious if you had lucrative contracts where your renewal fees were covered.

Continuing education would be a pain in the ass too. Places like Florida and New York will only accept courses approved by their board, so you could have to take hundreds of hours of CEUs to meet all the requirements for the licenses.

Plus, some states (West Virginia is one of them) renew every year, so the fees would mount quicker.

He is vice president... I doubt he does much design himself. So he shouldn't be stamping it. Unless they are one of the companies having cheap labor doing design and someone rubber-stamping.

Except for the Alaska requirement to take that course, it would be easy to get all licenses ones you have one (and as vice president he has a secretary to do all the paperwork). If renewal requires taking courses in many state... that of course is a bitch he can't pay someone for. but if he travels a lot, and money is not an issue, that can get done. It is about attending a course, not actually understanding it.

I can see if you do business in every state having all the licenses, but one guy having all the licenses is a little much. This guy sounds like he has way too much time on his hands.

Or his is one of the few at the company with a license.

Usually when I come across something like this it give me pause because if only one guy needs that many licenses, then is he really the Engineer on every project or is it just his stamp?
