Insulation specs confuse me. Does anyone know of any good resources to learn about the different types of duct and pipe insulation are out there, what the advantages and disadvantages of each are, and how to figure out what is best for your application?

I would refer to the manufacturer's information for the different types of duct and pipe insulation like: Owens Corning, Armacell, Johns Manville.

For design guides, to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the different types I would refer to Mechanical Insulation Design Guide, NAIMA and ASHRAE Handbooks.
