I remember this because the first time you had mentioned it I was excited that someone else knew who Guy Fawkes was.

to sum it up, back in the 1600's he tried to take out the British House of Lords with a crap ton of gunpowder. tried for treason, hanged, drawn and quartered... and then the burned his effigy for years to come to remind the Brits of it.

Most don't even realize it was actually a religious movement that drove him to it trying to get Princess Elisabeth as Queen because she was Catholic

Apparently the movie is about the future and doesn't really have anything to do with the historical aspect of it except for references.
