Position Title = Foundry Process Engineer

Education Required = BS Engineering preferred

Experience Required =

- Knowledge of foundry and machining processes

- Basic engineering skills (i.e. math, structural, and analytical)

- 3-5 years foundry experience is a plus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities =

- Coordinate and delegate responsibilities for process engineering projects

- Process samples through the Foundry, document how they were run, & expedite them through the system to completion

- Assist in developing and monitoring plant and equipment improvement project

- Calculate and set up gating & risering systems and document both standard product line and commercial castings

- Assist in the evaluation of equipment for acquisition. replacement. utilization and development

- Assist in the plant and equipment layout

- Assist in the development and application of standard data for cost purposes

- Assist in the engineering, estimating, sales and QA with manufacturing process recommendations

- Assist in the research and development of new manufacturing processes

- Analyze and manage Scrap Reduction programs

- Assist in the design and development of manufacturing processes for new products

- Assist in the evaluation of new tooling

- Assist in the estimating of times and methods for quotation purposes

- Develop and maintain statistical process controls for the foundry sand and melt processes

- Adhere to all safety and health standards

Knowledge and Skills =

- Ability to communicate with shop floor personnel, Manufacturing and Engineering dept

- Basic computer skills - Excel Word, Access, Projects, Power Point etc.

- Good telephone skills

- Interpret customer specifications, read blueprints including machining and foundry

- Leadership/supervisory skills

- Ability to write and present proposals to management for systems/Capital Investment

- Knowledge of basic cost analysis techniques, time measurement, motion and methods

- Understanding of Quality assurance concepts including continuous improvement. SPC and ISO 9000

- Knowledge of foundry processes

- Knowledge of ISO 9000 documentation requirements

- Ability to operate validification modeling software
