MAJOR piece of advice: Check the errata for mistakes. They will save you alot of time and attitude (in terms of getting extremely pissed off b/c you thought you fucked up, when it was their mistake)

Me personally, I am taking Geotech PM and have been working through the "the other board" Civil PE Sample Exam. It has a bunch of errata. I was working problems right, but took the printed answers as "correct" only to find out I was right to begin with....

So AGAIN, make sure you have the errata while you are studying. You can find them on "the other board"'s website...

Good Luck,

ktulu

The crappy thing is that you would expect a company called PROFESSIONAL Publications Inc. to have a higher standard of Q/C that what is currently seen.

Those errata pages at :"the other board": are huge!! :th_rockon:

10-4 on that. Full agreement here. I've been studying nothing but "the other board" stuff and now I wonder if I should have been looking for other resources.

It all started a year and a half ago when my licensed colleagues said to get the CERM and know it well. The assured me that if I know that book, I can do well on the morning half of the exam. I think the appendices and index are very good. However, my commendations pretty much end right there. I went and bought lots of other :"the other board": stuff.

One time I even had to file a "errata report" on the existing errata.

I got the 6 CD set for $650 or so and I think that stuff is mostly to easy. Also, the way the CD program software is put together, I think they have no business charging that kind of money. It would have been inexpensive and easy to fix a lot of the crude problems in the software.

Flash cards are terrible.

The afternoon portion of the :"the other board": Civil PE sample exam are insane- some with regards to content but mostly with time required to solve.

I did not get any of the 6 minute solutions which may have been a mistake but what the hell, I've bought and paid for more questions then I will be able to answer between now and Doomsday.

Oh well, I guess it is good that they don't just let anybody get an engineering license. You got to pay the piper if you want to make progress and get a little respect in life. :th_rockon:

Speaking of errata for "the other board" materials, does anyone know of errata published for the Six Minute Solutions (Mechanical)? I have found at least two errors, but no links to errata for this book.

Thanks,

Randy
