So does anyone else ride in here?

I took advantage of the cold weather season earlier this month and upgraded to a Honda VTX 1300 in Illusion Blue (purple/blue flip) for 2/3's book and included about $2k chrome and other add-ons. I've been on several short distance trips so far, and am amazed at how well this bike performs. Looking forward to weather warming up this spring for longer rides...

I'm strongly debating parking my cage and making it my primary, at least for work commutes.

I had a '95 Honda CB1000 for a few years. It was a lot of fun and I rode the snot out of it. I discovered that snowmobile gloves work really well for cold weather riding. I did one trip from Cincy to Myrtle Beach and another one from Cincy to Baltimore. This one isn't mine, it was bright red, but the same model...

I saw one of the new Yamaha Raiders in a showroom a little while ago...one of these days I wouldn't mind having one of those.

i rode - started with an 82 Yamaha 650 maxim, ended with an 83 H-D Sportster. Just kinda phased out of riding i guess. Still keep my cycle endorsement when i renew my license, just in case. If that time comes, I'm going w/ a crotch rocket probably (wife would say no )

My riding took a major hit with the arrival of Little Flyer. I'm hoping to get a few more miles in next year than I did in '09.

Used to, ended up in the hospital a few times, taking a break. Hopefully will get back on one of these days. In college rode every day, even when it was 115deg out. 40k miles in two years on my R1, and about 10 track days.

All of mine were performance bikes though. RC51, R1, CBR600, XR650R with street tires and big brakes.

I had my 03' Honda 919, man with FI that bike was silly quick.

Got rid of it when I started working as a Consultant, too much visiting clients and taking people to lunch.

For short cold weather rides (10-15miles@40-50mph), I just add a set of Under Armor Coldgear and lined gloves to my gear. The Coldgear stuff is really impressive. It goes on underneath your regular clothes with a compression style fitting and helps keep the wind off you without adding any bulk.

But even it doesn't work that well for longer rides at faster speeds. The windchill of 35 degrees mornings moving at 60-70mph for a few miles is tough to combat. I have a friend that has a full heated suit that he wears, but I'm not sure that's the route I want to take.

For me, as long as I was moving, it was tolerable. I wore a Shoei X11, which vented pretty well, and when I was on the street just light gloves and a joe rocket "Phoenix" jacket which also vented really well. Stopped at redlights was really rough, and you have to make sure you drink a lot, because at least here in Phoenix it's so dry and hot the sweat just instantly evaporates when you're riding. When I went on longer rides in the summer I'd soak my jacket and tshirt in icewater before I left. They'd both be dry pretty quick but it still helped. Summer days on the track with full leathers was no fun for sure, I only did one... and it was a half day. I think you'd have to be nuts to race in that but some do. Was dehydrated w/in just 10 minutes of on track riding.

He swore by it. To me it just wasn't worth the trouble, wetting it down and everything, and plus I had to go to class or work after riding. Carrying a helmet was a big enough pain, much less a soaking vest.

A little known fact that the Pacific NW is absolutely amazing in the summer. No humity, rarely rains, and we really only have at most 2 weeks above 90. So the motorcycle riding weather is short, but sweet.

I forget the model name but I have (it's still hanging in the closet for the day I get another bike) that worked pretty well as long as you were moving. It has zippered openings on the front and back and in the sleeves so if you're moving you get a nice breeze through the jacket. Only works if you're moving though.

My helmet was vented too, but when you I was going slow enough I would finally just have to open the visor...a big no-no but it was usually in town when I was under 30mph. I actually have one ********* cop pull me over and bitch at me about it.

Getting ready for some springtime motorcycle camping: ordered Bossbags saddle and trunk bags and Ultimate Seat studded 4 piece Bigboy set. Cant wait to get them installed!

Need to look through the tent, bedroll, and sleeping bag to make sure its still in usable condition. Like everything else these days, they have a tendency to be yearly throw aways
