and log base 10.
It's easy to plug numbers into an equation, but it's tough to verify an answer when the problem is not posted. Having said that, I believe you are working on problem #6 in chapter 40 of the Practice Problems companion book to the CERM. If so, then you are calculating CR incorrectly.

CR = Cc / (1+e). For this problem, Cc = 0.38 and e = 1.60

Your method was: CR = 0.38/1.60 = .2375

The correct method is: CR = 0.38/(1+1.60) = .146 This will lead to a settlement of 0.42 ft as shown in the solution.
