CA Seismic - Switching from Q1 to Q2

Has anyone had success getting exam approval switched from one quarter to another? I had a medical emergency and was planning on taking seismic Q1 but now want to push to Q2 but Prometric won’t let me schedule past 3/31. I emailed a bunch of people at the board today but haven’t heard back.

did you get approved in Q3? if that's the case it's because you're only allowed to test within the following two quarters (so Q4 or Q1). i think if you wanted to push it out you'll have to pay the fee again or talk to someone on the board since it has to be processed through Connect first before you can reschedule via Prometric in a different quarter.

If you wish to postpone your examination to a different quarter, then you need to contact the Board using https://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/pubs/forms/postponement.pdf

Medical emergencies are one of the most common reasons for this request.

I tried to postpone due to work load and was told tuff. I even said I would eat the registration fee for the 1/4 I signed up for and they said no. The system will not allow it. . I asked for the supervisor to call and never got a call back. The only reason I got a call from the staff was I asked CAPLS to have someone call me as several voicemails were not returned.

I got a notification the next 1/4 (January) that I was a no-show and could sign up for the second or third 1/4's

At the time I spoke (November) the woman I spoke with said that she and her supervisor were still working remotely and she was extremely inflexible.

I just called the board because I had a similar situation. I was unfortunately caught down in my old employer's "right sizing". I was fortunate enough to get work after one week with a specialty consultant but need to pass some industry specific certs for them. The board rep I spoke with said that after I "no show" the Quarter 1 exam. I could then reapply, but the earliest I would be able to retake the exam would be Q3 or Q4. Is this correct @CAPLS

All in all the California board staff has been very helpful.

Well, a "no show" is a different matter which basically means that you were not able to reschedule any time during the three months of Q1 that would fit your schedule better. Due to the flexible nature of this, the Board system will not receive notice that you were a "No Show" until after Q2 has begun, at which time you would be able to submit payment for the exam(s) again in the future. That would mean, earliest you can choose a date is Q3.

Given that you are only halfway through Q1, I would recommend you go ahead and attend the exam you are scheduled for or reschedule it to a date within Q1 that is better, and go ahead and take the exam(s). That way, you are not out any money. If you fail one or both exams, you will receive the notice and still can schedule for Q3 (or Q4) so no loss.
