I'm looking for more information/references on batteries. I remember seeing someone post a comment that there were more battery problems (especially on solar related batteries) but i cannot find good references here. Does anyone have good references on batteries? or at least what areas to focus on?

This website looks pretty good.  There's a lot of information but the NCEES specifically calls out Battery Characteristics & Ratings, so you might want to focus on these sections in the website.  Sections: Discharge, Charge, Types.
