2017 calculator list approved, new model added

Hot off the NCEES website/RSS feed...

NCEES recently approved the calculator models that can be used during NCEES computer-based and pencil-and paper exam administrations in 2017. The models approved for last year remain on the list, but a new model has been added: Casio fx-991. The following is the full list of calculators approved for 2017:

• Casio: All fx-115 and fx-991 models (Any Casio calculator must have “fx-115” or “fx-991” in its model name.)
  
• Hewlett Packard: The HP 33s and HP 35s models, but no others
  
• Texas Instruments: All TI-30X and TI-36X models (Any Texas Instruments calculator must have “TI-30X” or “TI-36X” in its model name.)
  

Limiting the types of calculators allowed in the exam room is one of the measures NCEES takes to protect the integrity of its exams.

Thanks for the info TWJ.  I think it's been a while since a new calc was added.  At first glance, I don't think the fx-991 appears to have any significant advantages over the previously approved calcs, but you never know.  More options is always good.  https://edu.casio.com/products/standard/fx991ms/

I'd just encourage people to get their calculator "early" and use it for a while in practice.  Calculators seem like a basic thing... and really should be, but they are all different.
