    ASHRAE 62.1, 62.2 and 90.1

Thank you very much. I actually took the Civil structural exam back in 2012 and my civil licence was awarded in December of that year. I am going after the Mechanical one now so i can stamp HVAC systems for the buildings i do structural work on.

    ASHRAE 62.1, 62.2 and 90.1

nice,do you remember how complicated the heat transfer and powercycle questions were? I plan to take the HVAC exam.

    ASHRAE 62.1, 62.2 and 90.1

Thank You so much! Are there any other ASHRAE standards we should bring in? I have got the 4 volumn hand book already.

Does any one have PDF copies of these standards? Thanks

    Refrigerant enthalpy diagrams

I am taking the HVAC depth, so you think the enthalpy charts in MERM will be sufficent for refrigerant problems?

    Refrigerant enthalpy diagrams

The enthalpy diagrams for refrigerants in the MERM are kind of hard to read and I think ammonia properties are missing.  Does any one have a packet of better charts fir all refrigerants?

    Cycle Efficiency Problem

i used the actual h'e leaving the turbine. however i didn't calculate the work at the pump at all.

    Cycle Efficiency Problem

I understand the method in the merm. I was wondering if the way I did it will always be valid as well.  Basically the merm method looks at net work out (w from the pump subtracted from work from the turbine )divided by the heat addition at the boiler represented by (hd-ha). The method I used...

    complexity of MERM problems

May I ask why you mention specific the Brayton cycle?

    Cycle Efficiency Problem

Fit bit? I don't understand. Basically I find the needed Qout required on the condenser to get the fluid to the condition before the boiler feed pump then add that value to the turbine work out to get the total Qin. Then I divide the work out from the turbine by the Qin.

    Cycle Efficiency Problem

I am looking at problems 27.4 and 27.5 in the MERM companion and they both ask for the thermodynamic efficiency given the pump and turbine efficiency. The answer shows to use the steam tables then find all the enthalpies at all the stages and then find the actual  enthalpies  due to the pump and...

    MERM appendix

Funny you should ask, I actually have a scanned copy of this. How can I share it with you?

    complexity of MERM problems

I am going through the MERM practice problems and I am trying to do every one in every chapter.  My plan is to take the HVAC test in April.  I am having a really hard time with the problems in chapter 28 and 29. They are the reciprocating combustion and combustion turbine respectively.  How...

    Static Temperature vs Total temperature

Hi all, When a compressible flow problem gives you a temperature and pressure in the set up, how do you determine if they gave you a static temp or a total temp? I think if the flow is originating in a tank the pressure and temperature of the gas in the reservoir would be considered the total...

What references did you take to the exam and which did you use?

What are the benefits of the Keenan and Keys Steam Tables over the MERM?
