Was Alexander Grafeo's Book Helpful During the PE Power Exam(2013)?

I had the book and it definitely was helpful for me. The author gives his email address, and we emailed back and forth quite a few times. He cleared up some things I had questions about (errors, concepts, etc.) He said that there is a second edition coming out soon. I'm hoping he'll get it...

Electrical PE Exam - Oct. 2013

I bought the PPI Passing Zone and Exam Cafe, and someone was kind enough to sell me their GA tech binder. The GA tech binder helped me out A LOT during the exam.....and for the PPI...I want my money back.

Electrical PE Exam - Oct. 2013

What I found interesting was the whole “rank your question” strategy. It took me 15 minutes to read through the whole exam, ranking the problems in difficulty from 1 to 4, plus the NEC’s. Well, with the 1’s, I was spot on…But what was interesting was some of the 2’s and 3’s were actually...

Okay, so I'm trying out the MVA method for CI Volume 1, #13....For some reason I keep on getting 1543 A. I downloaded the "Short Circuit ABC" pdf from earlier posts on the forum, so I'm trying to follow along. There's two "components" we are dealing with.....the transformer and the...

    NCEES 108

Ooooooh. When I read the problem I don't know why my brain automatically read that the 200 + j100 was ohms.....I guess I'm so used to seeing it that way. Lesson #489....Read more carefully. Thanks!

    NCEES 108

I'm looking at the solutions, and it says that absolute value (Ia + Ib) = (-In) I get that. However, why did they put the impedances in the numerator and the voltages in the denominator??? Isn't I = V / Z ?????? Thanks.

    Test day approaching

Awesome points. Thanks CRN. Also, I'm setting like 4 alarm clocks to make sure I'm up on time. I always use my cell phone as an alarm, but there have been a few times where it has powered off on me in the middle of the night.

Freaking out with under a month to go

SolomonB, you are so right.....last night, when I was going through some of the NCEES questions, I was getting frustrated with a few of them....until I after the third time I re-read one of the questions, and said, "Wait a minute....all they are really asking for is the phase voltage....easy!"...

your own references and handwritten notes in Exam

If everything is bound that's ok. But I think NCEES prefers your markings in your books to be in pen........

What is the Most Common Fault

Iahim, I lost the website I went to, but after doing more research I see that what you guys say is indeed the most common fault (line to ground).

What is the Most Common Fault

What is the most common fault? I'm getting two different answers from two different resources..... One says "Line-to-line" and the other says "Single Phase to Ground"

I study when people are asleep! So I go from about 3:30 - 5:00 am, then from 10 - 11:30 pm....sleep is sooooo overrated LOL. And plus I study on lunch breaks. It sux....but doable. Just remember it's temporary!

    Trouble starting studying?

Too funny! You are pretty much echoing how everyone pretty much feels....they hate studying for this test. You just have to bite the bullet and get 'er done. Motivation has to come from within, but if you do the following things, it might help you keep on schedule: 1.) See what your test...
