    Exam Mistakes

Agreed. Took enviro in October 2013 - I had to go over some questions multiple times because of how simple they were and needed to make sure they werent trying to trick me. They werent. The most "trickiest" question was one where they gave us the question in micrograms and the answer was in...

    NYS PE Application

I was very detailed with all my design work, including specifying each standard used for each project, specific equations used and any issues that aroses and how they were handled. Working on the NY PE application was more of a headache than the exam itself... If you get approved then you are...

    Connecticut results?

Waiting for CT results is nowhere near as bad as waiting for your license to become active. Took CT exam in Oct-2012 - althought resutls were released on Day 2, it took an additional 3 months to become licensed (mid March). Good luck to everyone waiting!

I couldn't help myself - I framed my NCEES pencils along with my cert (pic)

Wouldn't it make more sense to write what your PM breadth section was instead of 8 hour, next to NCEES? But yeah this is enginerdness to the max - AWESOME and congrats!

taping hand-written notes inside a book?

If you shake your book/binder/ref material and nothing falls out (whether sheets, post-its or tabs) then you are good. I think that is how a proctor would go about enforcing the rule if they do.

    2011 NCEES Practice Exam

Yes - October 2012 exam was exactly the same way - water/wastewater/hydrology + solid waste in the AM and the rest in the PM. The NCEES practice test is pretty much exactly how the actual exam is in terms of format - both spacing and fonts of questions. The exam will feel quite familiar. Also...

    Where to start?

Some problems left me scratching my head thinking I will never be a PE, while other problems had me scratching my head wondering if this was a high school freshman science class midterm. The exam topics aren't all over the place but so is the difficulty level. One thing that I will say is that...

Help: Env PE (stormwater) Qualifying Experience Criteria in general

I had no idea this was the case - I just re-read the NYS requirements and there is no mention of requiring your endorser to be a PE. This is quite strange, no?

    New York Experience Advice

Number 5 doesn't actually state that you need to have two years of practice in the US, but rather that a minimum of two years of your engineering experience must include "projects requiring knowledge and use of codes and practices commonly used" in the US. This means if you use codes during...

October 2012 - Post how long it took your state to issue a License No.

State of CT Finally: 81 days from finding out exam results to receiving licensure packet (in order to pay licensure fee) Another ten (10) days (91 days total) to activate my license and officially become a PE. I'd like to see another state beat that !!! :)

October 2012 - Post how long it took your state to issue a License No.

CT has yet to send me the license application, let alone begun activating licenses. So far looks like Connecticut is coming in at dead last...

For those who passed the PE ...

when i worked for the city i filed 2 grievances in 2 years and both got approve -with backpay from the day i filed the grievance to the day that it my new title was approved. my salary went from 40k to around 70k three years after i started working, and without a PE. I was the best in my group...

For those who passed the PE ...

File a grievance if you are doing out of title work and believe you should be compensated more than what you are getting paid. There are titles without a PE requirement out there that earn as much, if not more, than engineering titles. Unfortunately, if you were expecting to be treated with...

October 2012 - Post how long it took your state to issue a License No.

Thanks for the info mdriver! So far looks like CT on track to earn the "most disgraced state" award when it comes to licensing its engineers. It will be pretty pathetic if they take longer than PA, seeing as how that state took almost a month to release results after most states had already...

October 2012 - Post how long it took your state to issue a License No.

Approximately how long does TN take to issue the license after you submit the paperwork and pay the fee? CT is the same way.

    Master from US not Valid?

According to this http://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx the University of Louisville is the only university in the US to have an ABET Accredited master's program in Civil Engineering. That's fascinating.

Connecticut also issues a license number for you take the exam but it is listed as PENDING until you complete registration info and pay the fees, at which point it becomes ACTIVE.

October 2012 - Post how long it took your state to issue a License No.

I'm curious how this works with different states. In Connecticut it takes up to 65 days (!!) to receive a package in the mail and then who knows how much longer after completing registration information fees it will take to issue a license number. I actually called and they confirmed that they...

What do Enviro Engineers do in California?

Since CA does not offer the environmental exam, what do environmental engineers do in CA? Do they all just take the Civil and choose Water Resources discipline? Does that mean they need to take the surveying and seismic exam as well???
