Exam- Did you finish all questions? Six mins per question?

I think everyone is different and even every teat is a little different. For me I had plenty of time. I am not a fast test taker either, but I had at least an hour in both the AM and PM to check and recheck my answers. Some questions will only take a minute to solve and others alot longer. I...

Osha Safety book- Things to refer and tab

Good question, I recommend you just tab each section A-?( I forgot how many sections right now , I know alot.) Then when a problem refers to something you just go to the index and look up the section. Then you just flip to the tab. Most likely the question will be pretty clear what section it...

retaining walls coulomb vs rankine formula

Ketanco, your approach is correct. if you assume friction between the wall and soil you should default to use the coulomb formula to be more accurate. During the test it will most likely tell you which method to use, if not, your approach is correct.

PE Civil- AM part- What to study

Yes, you need those books and yes there is way more material in the CERM than you need. Also don't make the mistake of trying to study from the CERM. It is a reference book not a study guide. Check out my website at learncivilengineering.com it is designed specifically to help someone taking...

    Trouble starting studying?

Haha, your comment is really funny, probably because I think we all started out trying to study from the CERM. Which as you said is boring and the absolute worst thing you can do.(hindsight 20/20). Go to my website www.learncivilengineering.com and it talks about what steps to take to get...

    steel manual for construction depth

Ketanco, I know I hated buying these book too. However, I did and I used them for a few questions on the morning and afternoon. A important thing to know is that the steel manual has good information on welding too. You really should bring in all the books that NCEES suggest, you can sell...

    ACI SP-4 formwork

Good questions: Question 1: They are the same book, the pages are not numbered so they probably just guessed on the page numbers. Question 2: If you get the SP-4, you do not have to get ACI 347-04, like you stated ACI 347-04 is a appendix in the back of SP-4.

question about a cut fill problem

After rethinking this, yes you should use the average end area like the book has. Also to help you with number 1, you are not over thinking it you are thinking about what you are solving wrong. There is no doubt that we are assuming that the profile view goes from 50 sf cut at 2+00 then in a...

question about a cut fill problem

Ketanco, I don’t have the problem either, but it sounds like a really good one. It includes the major concepts of cut/fill problems. Figuring out total net cut/fill between stations when there is only a cut or fill area. Figuring out total net cut/fill between stations when there is both a...

    where to start

I agree that you will need only a few(7-9) key books which you will use for the majority of the problems(CERM, and design standards). There is no doubt you can't scan through every book for every problem, there is just not enough time for that. With that said, I am still a believer in bringing...

S28, Where did you get that equation from? I am sorry but I am not sure how to solve this problem with the information given. I am interested in other peoples comments too. I don't think a question like that will be on the exam though. Also I don't think you are right either since you are...

Will Bobs Rigging and Crane Handbook be required?

pablojimenezjr, Good question, The book is definitely not REQUIRED for the exam, which means the questions that are asked on the exam will not reference this manual for charts or formulas. However, this manual is SUGGESTED because it does have some good information on rigging techniques and...
