    Voltage drop, power factor question

I just used the reference handbook as my guide but I don't used most of their formulas exactly the way they show it. Just for example that Voltage drop formula. It say that if it is 3 phase you will need to use K=2/sqrt of 3. But in my mind, the 2 will just cancel to the formula and it will end...

    Voltage drop, power factor question

    I got it right,though. I used Zeff=0.08ohm/1000ft for p.f=0.85 column on Table 9 chapter 9. Vdrop-3phase = (sqrt of 3)(Iline)(Zeff)(length)=(Sqrt of 3)(566)(0.08/1000)(100)=7.84 Volts (answer B)

Question on doing simple integral and using calculator

without seeing the actual problem, I would just assume that my given below are correct. Is this from a particular practice problem? You won't be able to use the integration using your calculator because the unknown is the current. You will need to manually integrate it similar to the solution...

NCEES PE electrical and Computer practice exam 528

Which part of the solution you don't understand, though? The formula for efficiency is efficiency=Pout/(Pout+Core loss+Copper loss). Pout=KVA output(pf)=10kVA(1.0)=10kW Core loss=No load loss=Open ckt power consumption=69W Copper loss=(I^2)R  where I is the current at the high-voltage side...

Transmission Line - power sent. (Shorebrook PE Exam Question 30)

I have a concern with this problem, though. The problem was asking the "MAXIMUM" power transmitted. should we just use Pmax=(Vs)(Vr)/X ,where phase angle should be 90 degrees during maximum power?

Cram for Exam Vol 4 Question 10 - 4-Phase Systems and Polyphase Systems with more than 3 phases

I haven't seen the Cram Vol.4  yet but this is my personal explanation. If you know where the square root of three and 30 degree phase shift came from in a 3 phase balanced system, you will be able to derive any polyphase balanced system. As you mentioned above, each phase is separated by 90...
