Anyone want to post Electrical>Power diagnostic report. Haven’t seen one, just curious how they actually report it. I am still wating my result here in Iowa.

looks like you got 24 in the AM and 22 in the PM portion, which equates to 46.
Since you said the percentage was 68, I'm guessing the cut score is 48, which was used as a raw cut score (70).
So, may be you missed by just 2 points...
Here is my diagnostic report. I got it last week, I studied for 6weeks before the exam for some 3hrs a day and did not cover everything, absolutely NO construction, timber, CMU at all. It was my first try and I wrote the exam in VA.

In the letter I received, it is stated that I achieved a 68% score and is below 70% which is the passing score. I am not sure how they came up with the 68% based on the above percentages but I know that I need to start studying immediately for the April exam.

yup. 46/80 raw is 68 scaled, which seems pretty low, but good for test-takers. This is with Structures depth, for others also I would assume that approximately 60% raw will equate to passing score. 24 in morning is low, you should try to improve that aspect in next try. All the best.

Wow. I am sorry to hear that. raw score of 51/80 and still a big F, survey and seismic scores of 28 and 24 with a passing scores of 30 and 25, respectively. Amazing. Did you write the exam in Oct 2009, and if yes, then what was your thought on your comparative performance?
yes i did and i think those areas where i got 30 and 40's i should be scoring more in those this time. Seismic was far better this time and survey too..
Having said that i don't see my name in ca website so far....

You can't tell anything about the raw score from the scaled score. Nobody has any idea how they do the scaling. It is almost certain it is not linear, based on earlier comparisons of scaled score to computed percent from the diagnostic.
It is also almost certain that no cut score is as low as 48/80. Based on numerous prior postings of diagnostics, it is pretty clear the cut score is usually at least 52 or 53 and above. But even that is guess work. Do not count on it being 48. That's almost certainly not true.

I would recommend you buy the 6-minute solutions book for the Transportation section. I realize you arent taking transpo in the afternoon, but I still think it would help you do better in the morning. I studied the CERM for 6 hours and the 6-minute solutions transpo book for 8 hours and passed the PE on my first try. I found the 6 minute solution very helpful and an essential for anyone taking the transpo PE. I would also look into purchasing the structural 6-minute solutions, I would guess that it would also be quite helpful based on my experience.
I'll stop now because my post is starting to feel like an advertisement for the 6 minute book series. Since I have already passed the PE I would be willing to mail you my transpo 6 minute solutions free, as I have no more use for it. Shoot me a PM if you want it.

The 6 minute solutions were not bad at all. I definitely used them. From what I remember from the exam for transportation in the a.m. was curve problems and a stopping sight distance. Maybe a minimum radius and a breaking distance. Work a few and it's all good. Good Luck!!!
I graduated with a young lady that has taken it a few times and starting a family at the same time. I know she can pass this exam. It took the third time for me with only my job and my wife to devote my time to.

Sorry to hear that. I did the math and if I am correct you got a total of 68.5 and 70 is the passing. I added up the scores in the various disciplines and divided by 10. One of my colleagues was in similar situation and after filing an appeal he passed. I suggest you should file an appeal. There is nothing much to loose except a few $$$
This is strange, I took the civil PE exam, with a structural depth afternoon and failed with a score of 68. I recieved my diagnostic report today and it's for civil with a water resources and environmental depth??

That is strange. Call up the state board first, and then call NCEES about this. Don't give up. But does the morning score kinda sums up what you expected. I mean did u expect 29/40 (what u got), less or more.
You definitely should call NCEES if you are 100% sure you chose the structural bubble. Good luck to you.
On the ncees website it says 36& percent of retakers for the mechanical engineer exam passed in oct 2009. Unfortunately, 36% includes all states, right not just california? I got alot of the problems this time but I hope it was enough to make it over the minimum.
I looked at my ID# on my diagnostic report and the ID# that was on my exam authorization form and they are different which leads me to belive that they just sent me someone elses diagnostic report instead of mine. I have a VERY common name so I'm thinking that it's just another guys with the same name.
If that is the case their's a good chance that I may in fact have gotten a 68 (failed) and just recieved the wrong report, instead of what I was hoping had happened, that being that they missgraded my structural depth against the water resources and environmental depth answer sheet.
I don't know, what's even worse is that I forgot today was a holiday for most people so NCEES and TBPE are not workign today, so I guess I have to wait another day to talk to someone. :waiting:
