Congrats to all new NY PE's
can somebody here give me tips from what books to study and bring during the PE exam?

What books needed CERM, Struct depth, Codes, etc.?

I will write it in NY PE Civil/Struct Depth on Oct 2008, please do give me advice guys and thank you very much.
Thanks!! :)

The answer to your question is: yes, yes, and yes. CERM is invaluable in the morning session and is really the only book I needed. For the afternoon, bring every code you're remotely familiar with. My theory was, if I'd never seen the code before it probably wouldn't do me much good... but if I knew it at all, it might come in handy. The structural depth book was a great study aid.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend bringing any textbooks unless you are VERY familiar with them. They take valuable time to look through, and the questions are simple enough where if you don't know vaguely how to solve them, you're going to have a hard time figuring it out during the test anyway. It's really more a matter of having all the codes and knowing where to look up requirements and tables.

Good luck!

I did it, on my second try. I got my thin envelope today, i'm in NYC.

Thanks to everyone for their support. This forum helped me tremendously. Conrats to all that passed and to those who didn't, don't give it up. It can be done.

All those hours in the library paid off.

I got my thin envelope today. I can't belive. Thanks to everyone for their support. I am soooooooooooooooo happy! Thank you! :thankyou: :winko:

I'm working in NY but living in NJ. Congrats to everyone!

Thanks God, I got my thin envelope today. I can't believe. Thanks to you guys, you help me a lot last few weeks waiting the result. I am soooooooo happy finally I passed in my second trial "Civil +Transportation"! Thank you!

no letter in Clifton Park (about 13 mile north of Albany)
maybe they are reviewing my exam because no-one ever got 80 out of 80 before

hahahahaha
Good one! Well they reviewed mine - 47/80 - no good this time, I guess.

Hopefully we won't see you in October :p10940623:

Hi,
Does anyone know, which happens first:

1) get your letter, or

2) find your name in NYS Office of Professions if you have passed the PE?
It could happen either way. The state begins to input as soon as the results are in. Results can appear before your letter, but there is no rule either way.

THANK YOU, JESUS!!!!
I PASSED! JUST GOT THE LETTER IN THE MAIL TWO MINUTES AGO (Central New York)!!!

I was a coughing germball at the exam, but many prayers were heard in the heavens and, although I was really unsure, God calmed me and I felt fine in the afternoon.

Best blessings on all of you!!!!

:thankyou:

:party-smiley-048: :bananalama:
My prayers were heard too, only God has another plan for me (like an October sitting!)

It's funny - we probably all say "thank you Jesus" when the test is over, and "HOLY @#!$^ when we get our results!

^^^^That's actually pretty good. i bet you were close with that score. didn't you say you switched in the afternoon from something else to construction and didn't have any of the references?

Do they not give you that information if you pass?

Not that I'm too concerned, but I'd be interested to see how I fared.

Unbelievable is right. I can't believe that 53/80 is not good enough. i always thought the cut score was somewhere below 56, and 53 is pretty close.

nope, i'll see you there.

Ouch! Hang in there!

I wonder how long it will take the State to mail our licenses? Time to get a frame.

Congratulations to all those who passed the PE or EIT.

I'm moving to Manhattan and am looking for a civil design consulting job. Anyone know PE pay range? I got my PE in 2006 and I think I just low-balled myself when asked about what I was looking for. I said $80k and I heard silence, then I asked if that was high, and she said "no." I got my BS and MS in Civil from a top 3 national engineering program (read: MIT, Stanford, etc.).

What type of ranges are you guys looking at? Any information would be great. Thanks in advance!
