I am from MD and have some stamp info;

As you might know, MD also now requires an additional certification stamp on your documents stating your PE number and expiration date. Some of the stamp companies have these already prepared for MD.

Also, some companies use a simplified MD seal at the center of your stamp and some have the intricate seal, don't know how well that will come out in a stamp?

Anybody have any experiences with MD stamps or other?

these guys have the intricate seal;

these guys have the new Maryland Certification stamp;

Any one have any stamp related info to share?

I purchased mine from acornsales but it has not arrived yet. AFAIK, my boss manually writes in the wordy certification part when he stamps MD drawings.

BPH,

I purchased my seal from Engineeringseals.com expecting it to look like the one appearing on their website. I was surprised to see the actual Maryland seal that I received has the intricate design and appears exactly like the one on the acorn sales website. The intricate design works well when stamping. I also got the JPEG.

Hey Joe,

Thanks, that is useful information. What size stamp did you get, the 1.625" or 2"? What type of stamp (self inking etc.) did you get and do you like it?

Thanks,

Thanks,
BPH,

I got the 1-5/8” size without self inking. It’s a traditional rubber stamp. The jpg file is really cool, good for specs, calculations, and reports. Did you get your number yet?

Baltimore Joe,

yes, I got the PE number with the exam results, even though I would not be official until I paid the licence fee. I have not recieved an invitation to the MD PE society yet? I have heard that the PE certificate is nothing special, it would be nice to have something worthy of framing.

I think the wall certificate that Maryland gives out is pretty nice and is worthy of framing. It’s about 11” x 14” with a gold foil and Maryland state seal. I had mine framed and it looks good. I’ve seen some other state’s wall certificates and by comparison ours is fine.

I’m not sure when the MD Society of Professional Engineers is having their event. For the October 2008 exam the event occurred on February 20th. Invitations arrived in mid-January. Those who attended the event had their wall certificate in February, while everyone else waited until April. Look at MARYLAND-RESULTS, October 2008, there is a post on March 20th inquiring about when wall certificates will be mailed out. If they have the event you should go. It was held at the Engineer’s Club in Baltimore, it was a nice event.

My wall certificate looks like crap. Its maybe 3.4" x 8.5" and looks exactly like a cosmetologist's certificate. Where did you get one with a gold foil and state seal?

Don’t worry, that is not the wall certificate. It takes a while for DLLR to have them made. The wall certificates are mailed. DLLR sends everyone they license, including cosmetologist, that 4 x 8.5 display card and wallet card you’re referring to.

I spoke with the MD Society of Professional Engineers this morning. The Professional Engineer’s Recognition Event is tentatively scheduled for Friday September 25th. It is going to be held in Annapolis. Invitations will be going out within a week.

Thanks for the info, I will be attending if possible.
