    Who dat?

Well, I thought it was a pretty good game. Not a blowout and the result was in question all the way down to three minutes. If you were rooting for the Colts you might have though it was shitty I guess, since they didn't look so good. Adai had a good game. I was really puzzled about Manning...

What do you pay for cable/phone/internet

Internet from Cox Cable $33, DishNetwork $65 and home phone from Vonage $15. Our daughter is back living with us for awhile and she gets that automatic flinch to grad the phone if it rings during dinner or some other time that I don't care. She may lose the response before she moves out. I...

Process Engineers? What are their responsibilities?

OK, so I am a process engineer. I interviewed with P&G when I got out of school, but that was 1979 so I'm sure it is not relevent now. As others have mentioned, most process engineers are ChemE's, though having an ME in that job isn't unheard of especially in a blending operation which is...

    Some Good Fiction Books

Two books that I've read recently that I recommend without reservation: Guns, Germs and Steel - Jared Diamond The Trouble with Physics - Lee Smolin (Not even Wrong by Peter Woit is similar but not as well written, IMHO) I guess I've mosthly gotten away from reading fiction in the last ten...

    Satellite TV

I went with Dish primarily because Sirius sat radio is included. We aren't real big TV watchers so I can't talk about channels or HD or any of that (I don't own an HD TV yet). Near as I can tell the Dish service is comparable to Direct, it just works most all of the time, the DVR is real nice...

What are topics for ChE PM (in depth) test?

So far as I know there are no choices as there are no depth specialties for ChE, and we all take the same test.

PE Practice Exams & other reference materials

Here are what I have in my file for 12. The neat version is from the review course, the messy one is what I did myself during my practice. See the note on page 2 about the book solution being incorrect. 6ms_12.pdf

PE Practice Exams & other reference materials

My experience with the 6 min solutions is that they are not. Many of them take more than six minutes and one or two of the answers are just incorrect (looking through my notes from the review class, 12 is one of those). While the 6 min solutions are good for working different problems, etc...

Here's what I did with number 2. The equation in the solutions appears to be something they made up to do multiple steps at once. Not something that I try to do. Meanwhile, can someone explain attachment management to me. I had to zip this page as there wasn't space to uploaded it raw, but I...

    Expecting

Congratulations. I'm looking forward to it and at the same time I'm anxious. I've never had any real interaction with a baby, so I don't know how I'm going to react. I guess nature takes over and it will be fine. In the meantime, everyone is asking me what I'm going to be called. Grandpa...

From stoichiometry....and the fact that, for ideal gases, mol fraction is equal to volume fraction. In Eq (1) each mole of NO that is created requires the destruction of 0.5 mole of N2, so we subtract 0.5x from the total starting N2 amount of 0.79. Similarly, using the re-formed eq (2) in the...

    Expecting

I had forgotten about this thread also. We recently found out our daughter is expecting about the middle of February (no she didn't know until early September). So I'm going to be a grandfather. And, since her hubby is scheduled for deployment starting in January, she'll be moving back in...

HAZOP 2008 software in HAZOP meeting?

I haven't used Hazop 2008 myself so I can't answer if it is practical. I've used Pha-Works and PHA Pro and they are both pretty practical to use during the meeting, so I expect this one is too. It is very common to use the software during the meeting, with a projector so everyone on the team...

    Gun poll

That's about what I expected. A good friend of mine is also a big Glock fanboy and says much the same. I'm not persuaded. If I'm getting a handgun for protection, the only thing that matters is that it allows me to apply lethal force to a person who is a threat to me. If just going 'bang'...

Why? I rented both at the range and put 50 rounds though each. I prefer the feel of the XD and had similar groupings.

    Gun poll

Just two guns for me at the moment...Remington 870 and a S&W Model 36, the Lady Smith that my wife liked the looks of. I think that the later is a good CC weapon. As soon as some cash frees up I am planning to aquire a Springfield XD, probably .45ACP but still maybe .40 caliber.

How much for an engagement ring?

Never wear a ring because I don't have one. My wife has an engagement ring, ruby not diamond since she doesn't like diamonds. Don't remember what I paid for it but I think under $1000. (We just had our 13th aniversary yesterday, and I can't remember details like that from 14 years ago). She...
