Looking to buy used study material for the seismic exam

Let me correct myself: the Hiner was all that I needed personally. This is the way I see it: Hiner breaks out every single concept on the exam into small problems in his multiple choice section. When it comes to the test, you may see problems that are unfamiliar to you, but you should be...

Looking to buy used study material for the seismic exam

The Hiner is all you need. I read through the entire book and did all of the problems in the back (multiple choice and problem solving) about 5 solid times. At the very end of my study time I read through the 345 solved seismic problems which I found to be much more difficult than the exam...

    October Seismic/Survey Results Timeline

FYI the database isn't updated as of right now. I got my pass PE letter, but I'm not PE on the license lookup.

    October Seismic/Survey Results Timeline

Got PE baby! Seismic was easy, just do Hiner 5-6 solid times. Some problems came right out of Hiner.

    October Seismic/Survey Results Timeline

Depends who you talk to. They say this because this is the diplomatic response - to provide a date 8 weeks after the last exam date which is November 7th. I realize we're coming off as overbearing to the rest of the forum folk, but speaking for myself I can't wait to get that stamp that I...

The October 2012 Survey/Seismic exams were available at all Prometric testing centers nationwide from about October 20 to November 7.

    October Seismic/Survey Results Timeline

I wasn't confident that December 19 was the date. I called the board yesterfday and the results are going to be released at the end of this week or next week after Christmas - this assumes the employee i spoke with really knew, but who knows).

Still awaiting Seismic results. Can somebody call the board and see if they've gotten a refined release date prepared :-)

    Preparing for the Surveying exam

You have to do the problems in Cuomo and Boiniface so many times (WITHOUT LOOKING AT SOLUTIONS FOR STEP BY STEP!) that no matter the problem you're given on the Exam, you will know exactly the tool you should select in order to solve the problem. On my exam I had many problems involving roadway...

    Surveying and Seismic Results

Yes. If you only needed one more exam to pass (i.e. only needed seismic or survey) then you can check the license lookup which I've heard gets updated before the results are mailed. />http://www2.dca.ca.gov/pls/wllpub/wllqryna$lcev2.startup?p_qte_code=ENG&p_qte_pgm_code=7500

Just took CA Survey Oct 2012

npd5050 was talking about a session held by the Board in which people take the exam and rate the difficulty in order to provide feedback to the Board to set the curve.

    AASHTO Green Book PDF?

I found that bound, authentic copies are infinitely easier to navigate through than 3-ring binder copies.

    Transportation Discipline - References

I found my textbooks from College extremely useful during the 8 hour. While the bulk of the non-calculation problems I was able to pull from the CERM, I also luckily had my Geotech textbook, for example, and was able to run to its index for answers. For example, one of the test questions was...

Just took CA Survey Oct 2012

I find this so incredibly awesome. To know while you're taking the test that you have the luxury of skipping some problems without risk of failing is a great feeling. My test was interesting. The very first question (Seismic) was something that went WAY out of my scope/over my head. I was on...

Just took CA Survey Oct 2012

I wasn't knocking your input specifically, was talking generally about some people I've seen on here. In your case, if you didn't pass Survey you'll just want to re-do all of the problems and re-read the Cuomo until you've mastered everything.
