Transmission Line Question Short Line Model: Power Flow

I haven't posted here in a while, but hello! I am now under taking my masters and have run into a conundrum. We are working on transmission line modeling, and I have the following homework problem: 2) The per-phase impedance of a short three-phase transmission line is 0.5∠53.15◦ Ω. The...

    PE Results - Massachusetts

Did you receive anything in the mail from NCEES or the PCS about your results? I expected a hard copy of the results. NCEES says i passed, so I'm good with that...just want to make double sure! I also never received an email from NCEES telling me to check my results. I just knew that people on...

Best PE Power review course and reference material used in the Exam

Practice problems!! By far the best are the NCEES questions. The key to passing the exam is a complete understanding of those exmaples, as they do mirror what you will see on the test itself. I found the camera problems to be too dissimilar to the NCEES format to be useful. There is a company...

    NCEES Practice Exam as Source

I emailed the group responsible for the MA exam, and the NCEES and any other practice exams are allowed into the exam as long as they are bound. Three ring biners count as being bound, and PEN notes are acceptable (I have red notes everywhere). Just an FYI.

    autotransformers- NCEES #525 and #535

I started here first, http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-061-introduction-to-electric-power-systems-spring-2011/index.htm MIT has a great open course catalog. This is intro to power systems, there is also power electronics and electric machines in there as...

I recently printed parts of this book out. Filled with useful information. Wish I had it sooner.

3 phase power factor correction -> Capacitance

I think the formula in step 1 is valid. What about, Q=Vc * Ic (basic Power equation, usable for every type of power) and Ic=Vc/Xc So, Q=Vc^2/Xc Using the root(3) would depend on if you are using per phase values or line values.

Comparison of Complex Imaginary Variation 1 vs NCEES sample test

I agree. They helped, just had to be careful with some of them and always keep a questioning attitude, for any practice test.

3 phase power factor correction -> Capacitance

Since the comment by Insaf I've been doing some research myself and I think I agree with him. It makes sense.

3 phase power factor correction -> Capacitance

This was great. I'm glad I saw this. I went through my notes and noticed I hadnt accounted for this.

    Electric shock & burns

If you go to the EC&M website, there are some good NEC articles by Mike Holt on there, one of them is on such a subject. Also, the NEC articles on there by him are great, I've printed a number of them for work and for studying. EC&M is also just a plain old good website for information.
