So, how'd you guys do (Oct 2011 CA-Seismic)?

Congratulation! So am I @my first try :) . Like Seismic, I finished Survey half-hour early too. But it is sad that I am still unemployed. :( If you want to do well in Survey, I think you should not bring more than the formula sheets you've prepared into the exam room. And most likely, you...

    California Dreamin

Passed with no drama @my first try. But now where can I find a job doing structural design in CA?

So, how'd you guys do (Oct 2011 CA-Seismic)?

I finished half hour earlier with one or two problem not 100% sure. Of course, my background is structural engineering. I think the exam is tough for people with no structure background.

    So how do you feel?

The exams were easier than I thought. I think I will pass all three (general/structural, seismic & survey) at one shot. Wait and see... :) 10 ~12 weeks, long waiting...

    Seismic Response Coefficient

It means that you made mistakes in your calculation. The Cs value from Eq. 12.8-3 will never be greater than that from Eq. 12.8-2 If you take a look at the design spectral curve in Chapter 11, you will understand why that Cs = Sds/(R/I) (12.8-2), when T <= Ts = Sd1/Sds governs Cs =...

    updated 2009 IBC

I think materials based on IBC2006 will still be sufficient since IBC2009 also refers to the same ASCE 7-05. Two major changes in IBC 2009 I like to point out are: Seismic Design of Wood Structures in IBC2009 refers to NDS/SDPWS 2008 (which can be downloaded free) and Concrete Structure Design...

Which state asks for shortest experience for PE

Possibly after several tries to pass CA Survey & Seismic Exams, you might be well qualified for sitting in your own state exam already. :)

Why not releasing FE results before PE exam application deadlines?

What is your opinion on this? I believe that there are many experienced engineers qualified for PE exams "forgot" to take their FE exams and want to take PE exam immediately after FE exams. Taking so long for a machine to grade those standard single choice test papers is puzzling me...

Missed CA 04/11 postmarked deadline by three days!

Really frustrated to say at least because it mainly was myself's fault. On the bright side, it will give me more time to prepare for the exam to gurantee I will pass it in one shot. Is it too early to send it in for Oct. 2011? NCEES is not open for next Oct. exam yet.

Missed CA 04/11 postmarked deadline by three days!

I am kicking myself right now. :( Just missed the 12/17 (Last friday) by three days due to mail delivery issue with one of references. It was so hard for me to collect 4 PE reference letters because I am out of work for a while. I know exactly total number of 6 SEs in the past two years, but...
