    Industry Exemption

Wonder if I would have been able to help if a similar situation occurred and I was asked. I'm a Chemical Engineer, but I took the exam in Mechanical (as that's where my experience had been based)...so, am I considered ChemE or MechE (or both?)? Hasn't come up before...is it just the test you pass?

    NCEES Record - Experience?

My experience report is actually verbatim (with the exception of my new experiences) of what I submitted when I applied for the PE exam - that's what has been throwing me off. I called and spoke with NCEES, they said I needed to be more specific with a couple of projects (more "I" statements...

    NCEES Record - Experience?

Do you have any guidance on how you wrote up your experience record? I keep getting my NCEES Record application kicked back to me saying I need to give them more information about my jobs/etc., even including my time as a student (where I'm thinking...well, doesn't saying "student" generally...

    Exam center in India

In the US you will be registered in an individual state...each state will treat your situation differently (you have options such as passing the FE, using experience instead of the FE, or using just experience to get the PE). Start by identifying which state you need to be registered in for the...

    ASHRAE 62.1

I took the 90.1 with me, didn't use it. There were some questions that were you either know, you have the reference and can find it, or you take a guess. My recommendation - if you have it readily available and your state doesn't limit references, take it with, but focus your efforts in these...

    PE Rental DVDs

I gave mine to the library in Johnson Creek, WI if you happen to be anywhere near there! I was disgusted with the lack of prep materials out there, so gave them to the library with the hope that the next poor soul going through this would have some decent reference materials!

Organize books in the exam room

For the mechanical exam - I took a rolling suitcase (size that fits in overhead bin on a plane) with books positions such that they would travel well. Once I got there, was able to have the suitcase on the floor next to me and then stand all the books up next to each other upright like a small...

2001 and 2008 Mechanical Sample Exams

The 2008 NCEES exam is what you are seeing on their website as the PE Mechanical Sample Questions/Study book. The 2001 is only available through ebay/amazon/etc.

Now that I passed, I have a silly question.

One benefit to getting the PE in TX, they have good programs setup with international affiliates (e.g. Australia), so if you ever think you may try to register overseas...consider trying to register in TX...may make for a simpler registration process overseas.

I got my PE number issued today, website said to expect the official certificate in about 10 days - a great feeling for sure! 7 business days from when I turned in the supplemental form to getting the license issued...not too bad overall (and way better than that first wait as well!).

So for those who passed and turned in their update forms to the state...any guess on when we'll actually get our license numbers issued? I turned my update sheet in on Friday, 6/25...online it said it could take up to 15 business days...so it's waiting period #3 (application approval, exam...

When I was looking for refresher courses for the mechanical exam, I had trouble finding anything other than this board! Suggestions for in-person courses to look would be UW-Madison, MSOE, and UW-Milwaukee. Depending on how close you are, Chicago may have something also. What worked best for...

    1. In what state did you appear for your PE? - Wisconsin 2. What was your discipline? - Mechanical (HVAC) 3. How many questions did you think you answered correctly? Not certain, my estimate leaving the exam was about 57 pretty confident, but likely was 60+ 4. How many were guesses? - 4-5...
