    Which states allow practice problems in the exam room?

    They were definitely allowed in North Carolina when I took the exam back in 2009.

    Water Resources or Geotech? Which to Take

    I have to disagree with this. Pick a depth in advance and stick to it. With only 6 minutes allocated per question, you probably won't have any time to spare in the afternoon to look over an additional section. The time you waste looking over another section and debating which one you should work...

    How Much of Pay Raise after PE Certification?

    By all means, speak up! While I didn't ask for a specific raise (I was honestly expecting the typical 3-5% that I originally mentioned), the "big bossman" who I spoke to is based out of another office (in another state), so he didn't even know that I had passed the exam. Color me silly for not...

    How Much of Pay Raise after PE Certification?

    My "congrats on passing the PE, now here's more responsibility" raise has finally gone through - of course, I had to bug the bossman about it after I noticed that my first paycheck of the year was identical to all of my paychecks before I passed the PE. There were no performance based raises...

    Study Approach

    I'm honestly not sure what tips I could tell you via e-mail that you don't already know - basically, work a ton of problems and read the material, making sure you understand the concepts so you're prepared for both the calculation-type questions as well as the word-type questions. Regardless...

    NCEES Record

    I've already started working on my NCEES record - since we do work in multiple states, I was told to go ahead and get moving on it ASAP.

    Study Approach

    I took a review class at my local university (same as above - NC State), and one of my co-workers took the School of PE review and I was able to read through the geotech notes. I found both the geotechnical portion of the review class that I took and the notes put forth by School of PE lacking...

    So...what color was the pencil?

    I finally moved all of my exam materials into my office (thought it was bad luck to bring them in before the results arrived!), and I found my pencil at the bottom of the crate :) I'll probably wind up taping it behind the frame I put the certificate in.

    I just received my "you passed!" letter from the board.

    Has anyone gotten their stamp yet?

    I ordered mine yesterday morning from a local stamp & seal store here in Raleigh.

    pass / fail letter question????

    When I took the FE back in Fall 2004 in North Carolina, the pass letter came in a standard size envelope. I was still in school, so I didn't receive my certificate until after I graduated in Spring 2005.

    I had completely forgotten about that teensy tiny checkbox on the application - glad you mentioned it! I went ahead and got in touch with NCBELS this morning, who provided me my PIN number, so I changed my info on the website. I have no idea why I chose my work address as preferred in the first...

    I'm curious about that, too. Anyone?

    NC - PE RESULTS

    So I also went through the class list last night - between them spelling my name incorrectly, double listing another person, and incorrectly listing another gal by her maiden name instead of her married name (which I only knew due to me being in a class with her back in college), I found a...

    NC - PE RESULTS

    I thought we were supposed to receive a course evaluation for the review, but they may be waiting until now when the results post. I also went through the list, and was also surprised that only ~55% of the class passed. While some of the portions of the class were extremely useful, others were...

    NC - PE RESULTS

    As I mentioned, the afternoon was ridiculously hard. I would say that I was confident on 15 questions, was able to narrow down the answers on another 15, and outright guessed on 10. I worked through all of the 6-minute solutions, a practice exam (that was handed out in class), all of the class...

    ~~~~~~~TO ALL NEW PE's IN THE HOUSE~~~~~~~
    I had a couple of beers tonight to celebrate. Yes, only a couple, but it's a Monday and I unfortunately have to go to work in the morning and be mostly coherent. I'll bust out the good liquor once my weekend starts on Wednesday night :)
    I got a brochure for one of the SURE TO PASS PE Courses
    I have yet to receive one, but others that I work with have. And no, it doesn't mean that you failed.
    I was in the class, too. I thought I remembered them dropping some stat that 85% of the people who took the class passed. I was one of the 4 folks who took Geotech, and while it was ridiculously hard, that probably helped to lower the cut score a bit, so I'd recommend that route.
