    Cheers...

Yep... I'm aware. Though not a Californian by choice. A Californian only due to exile from Washington after the global economic meltdown. Two years I've been trying to escape!

Pavement Marking Removal / Slurry Seal

Anyone have any experience with slurry seal projects and removal of pavement marking prior to applying slurry? The Caltrans Maintenance Technical Advisory Guide mentions that removal of thermoplastic marking is required but removal of paint marking is not required. The reasoning behind removal...

    CA Seismic Survey Reference Materials

Excellent! Thanks for the info. CA PE is probably not a need for me (at least right now) but it's always good to learn new things... or re-learn old things and having an end goal helps to focus.

    CA Seismic Survey Reference Materials

I'm sure there's a post on this somewhere but a quick search didn't find it... How much can I expect to spend on reference materials for the CA Seismic and Survey exams? Looks like it might be somewhere around $500 +/-. Trying to figure out if it's worth the time/money/effort to get CA PE.

    Pavement Marking Material

Thanks Mike! I've got specs for all the materials you mentioned. There was a project completed a year or two ago in the same area with the markings already more or less completely failed... something I'd like to avoid. As best I can tell no specified the type of material to use or was paying...

How many years out of college were you when you got your PE??

I thought I was pretty far out of school but I guess not relative to other posts. BSCE 2006 FE 2006 PE April 2013... after a year of 2009/2010 unemployment and a few failed attempts.

Need Advice for Finding New Job Across Country

I've been trying to get out of CA for over a year. Getting a job with a government entity could take quite a while. Federal in particular takes quite a while... and federal jobs these days are hard to come by with a second round a sequestration on the horizon.

    Civil Job Market

A quick un-scientific survey... what does the job market look like for Civil Engineers in your area of the country? Yes, un-scientific... so disregard level of experience and area of practice. I'm guessing it's still pretty rough out there and will be for the foreseeable future.

I passed, now where to get PE rubber stamp?

Hmmm, I wonder if this matters... looks like Washington has more hair here: http://www.engineerseals.com/order/washingtonpe.php compared to here: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=196-23&full=true

    Potentially Need some Career Advice....

I'd go for the municipal job: 1. Change is good 2. 10k+ 3. Better benefits 4. If nothing else you get a chance to brush up on your resume writing and interview skills... both skills that go cold when not used and have the potential to be under appreciated until you need them.
