    CALIFORNIA - RESULTS April '11

Thanks. I think I'm actually more excited about this license than I was about my first one. CA may be tough, but it makes you feel good when you pass it.

    CA Seismic Review Course

Sorry to not answer the question, but I'm not going to answer the question. Instead, I'll say that I was planning on just reviewing the Hiner workbook without the class (much like you are). I ended up taking the class because my company was willing to cover the cost. When I was self-studying...

No, this was my first application in CA. I got licensed two years ago in OK. I didn't know the 8-hour expired. That's going to be fun. Ah well, I'll wait for the board verdict. Actually, just got a phone call from the board, and they will add me as an engineer, either today or on the 27th...

I got a pass letter for state specifics, but then got a 'no-show' letter for the 8-hour. I passed that test 2 years ago. I wonder if there'll be a problem straightening that out.

Hmm, how did I come up with 8000? I don't remember, but I saw it somewhere. That might just answer the question. Maybe more like 2000 people took the test. Seems like a lot of testing locations for just 2000 people though. And then the statistic (38% ish) may be the pass rate for...

    CALIFORNIA - RESULTS April '11

Hey, there are only 842 new PEs on the database. If 8000 people took the test, isn't that only 10% (ish) passing? That's way below the 38% I was expecting. Also, the state site doesn't say the database has been updated. Any chance they're still updating it?

    CA Seismic Review Course

Just to throw in my useless two cents, I thought Hiner's review was great. But if I didn't pass the exam, I'll probably change my opinion. The online webinar was pretty convenient and clear. I couldn't imagine a better review.

    Who's bringing a backpack?

Very reasuring to hear that. I remember what I had with me for the 8 hour when I took it in Oklahoma, and my references are a bit anemic in comparison. In case anyone is interested, right now I'm planning on bringning the following: One binder to consolidate info for both tests Brown's...

    Who's bringing a backpack?

I plan on flying in with a backpack full of books, and it's my understanding we can take them in as long as we're not doing the FE/FS. Anyone else bringing in a backpack for the seismic/survey tests? If not, what are you bringing your books in?

CA SURVEYING DISCUSSION ~ APIRIL 2011 EXAM

Has anyone taken the test with the free CalTrans video lectures? I'm looking through them, but they seem to be a bit outdated. On the other hand, math hasn't changed since the '90s.

What Time is the state specific?

I've been looking around, and maybe just in all the wrong places, but I can't find the time for the seismic and survey exams. What's typical?

    So, Registration closes tomorrow

Does anyone have an idea how long it typically takes to process the CA PE application? I sent my stuff in but haven't heard back, and the deadline is supposed to be tomorrow. Just checking.

Is CA survey any different from normal survey?

Wow, looking for the book to be ready in February? I guess I'm jumping the gun. I was going to start getting my stuff together now, but I guess I'm a little too excited about it.

Is CA survey any different from normal survey?

I appreciate the help. I used the ppi civil manual for survey for my PE, along with general survey notes from a review course. From the boards, it sounded like similar material, and I didn't want to waste the money. Sounds like it's not a waste. I believe the CA board has announced it is...
