Went for the trifecta and got 1 out of 3 (CA Seismic).  Funny thing is I thought I botched Seismic and nailed Surveying but the opposite happened.  Anybody tried to do the CA Surveying and NCEES 8hr exams in the same cycle and been successful?  Obviously I would schedule the Surveying on the last possible day.
Hah! I was the other way 'round - I thought I easily breezed through Seismic, and I was borderline on Surveying, but I passed Surveying and failed Seismic.

I can't recommend the EET Seismic book enough.  It seemed like the test was straight out of it.

On to the fun questions for those who passed.

1) Stamps - where do we buy them from?

2) Certificates - does the state send them out or do we have to get them printed ourselves?

I did the trifecta, 2.5 months of studying and passed first try. I do have an MS degree in civil/structural though....

I found the surveying test to be the easiest. the 8hr exam was of medium difficulty and the seismic was probably the hardest.

I only have 1.5 yrs of experience in construction engineering.

So now what?

I used @PE Stamps and I am very happy with their service. I got my order very fast!

What depth did you take? Any recommendations for studying? I took Structural Depth and I did not pass. What did you do for seismic exam and surveying exam? Congratulations on passing.

I took the structural depth. I probably spent a majority of my time studying for structural depth. I only took review courses for the general portion, which seemed adequate, and did not study much for it. I was also counting on the general portion being easy, which it turned out to be. I studied for seismic for 1 whole week and surveying for another whole week. I did practice problems and studied from a number of reference materials for both seismic and surveying. For the structural portion, I created several cheat sheets on all topics: steel/AISC, concrete/ACI, asce-7/seismic/wind, IBC, timber, basic material mechanics, and basic structural analysis (beams/frames).

Hopefully that helps and good luck next time.

Any word on when the CA BPELS website will have the license numbers added to the lookup?  My name is not listed there yet.

@dvvader you're not alone on that one, my name is not listed either. I was thinking maybe I failed the take home

Well I feel better knowing I'm not the only one.  My last name is towards the end of the alphabet so maybe they just haven't got there yet?  I'll probably call and ask tomorrow.

I was checking new electrical licenses and I found some before and some after my last name, I don't think they're doing it alphabetically. Hopefully we'll be in tonight's update

I have issues so I was stalking the lookup. They updated it on the 25th with about 600+ names (to about 84630 I think). Those showed up on the 26th. Then they updated on the 26th with about 600+ more (to about 86030). Those showed up on the 27th. They wouldn't have entered anything on the 27th, 28th or today seeing that no one is working on those days.

I don't know how many new licenses they have but they'll keep entering tomorrow. Those will show up on Wednesday June 1st when their server refreshes overnight. And it wasn't alphabetical. My guess is they have a number of people doing stacks of data entry.

Congratulations!

Thank you.... I it is a huge accomplishment for me as I will be pursuing my SE exam next. I know it is a challenging exam, but I have the Lord on my side and nothing is too hard to accomplish. Thank you again..
