What was your search engine before Google?

I used altavista and infoseek regularly. It's hard to believe how things have changed.

I used webcrawler (had a spider web on it) and altavista after I got sophisticated (and my transpo professor said it was the best for engineers).

I rmember those and I used to use them a lot. I believe one of them incorporated Altavista in it's searches.

Yea, I used AOL too, good old dial up "mom, get off the phone I want to go online and chat"

I think in high school I used Lycos and Alta Vista. I remember using the Netscape browser in college.

Meta search engines used several standalone search engines and bundled the return results for you. IIRC, Metacrawler used something like 8 or 9 search engines to run your query, and listed the engines beside the return result.
