I just spent more than two hours in this board reading new posts etc. I did not read all of them since there are more than three pages of posts since the last time I was here. Incredible. Not too many posts about test prep. There were a few but most of the posts were of people having a good time, which I like too. In the past I have found good info here. Maybe you spoiled me guys. I am bringing this because went to other board and spent between having a pizza and reading the posts spent 30 minutes and that was it. Most of the posts there were self praise type. Not going to add more on the issue but watch yourself. If you want an example of what you should not do maybe you have to visit that place. Have to find it because I am not telling you where is it. Don't loose the focus and keep helping poor souls like me. This is by far the best engineering forum available and would hate to see this turning into something else. What is in that deal for me? I am taking the test again in October and, again, I have found good info here. Want to be sure I put my grain to keep it like that.

Undertaker, you have a good point, but also remember that most people haven't really started studying yet, or if they have, they haven't gotten to the question asking stage. Once the questions start getting posted, you will see a major shift in the "old guard" from posting in the shoot the breeze area to the test prep area, it has happened like that every time. We are in the lull between results and serious study prep, as you stay with us you will see the stages that the board goes through, it is sort of predictable now.
Oh, I really understand that SapperPE. I am looking forward to the gear shifting.

Is there anything in particular that you would like to see - maybe that you would find helpful??

I have been having a stressful few weeks at work and home so I have been blowing off steam here at EB.com. I don't mind kicking it back to exam-prep though :)

Feel free to toss some ideas off me.

JR

Undertaker,

I agree with Master Sapper. You have a good point but take it easy. The prep for the PE is a marathon and not a sprint. Don't over do it. California is about two weeks away from getting results, I hope. After that the Board mood will change and then you will be able to find good advices.

You said that you found help here before. Good. Let me tell you; don't go anywhere. Stay tuned. You will see. Take my word for that.

In case I did not do it before....

Welcome to EB :multiplespotting:

If your concern is about wasting your time reading posts from people "having a good time" as opposed to posts about helping with exam prep, I offer the following.

If you click on "View New Posts" it lists the forum that each new post is listed in. I recommend that you bypass posts in the Shoot the Breeze and Secret Room / Rant Room and instead look for posts in the forum related to the help you are seeking. As others have said here, if you ask a question chances are good you will get a helpful response.

Don't complain about wasting time reading the posts related to non-engineering stuff. They are clearly marked as such so just don't read them. It's kind of like **** on cable TV, if you don't like it, then don't watch it.

My 0.02...and if I can help with an engineering question please ask away.

Thanks jregieng. I am a little stressed about the f**ing test and usually find good tips here. As I said, this is by far the best forum available for engineers.

Don't get me wrong. I did not say I was wasting my time. If that was said I did not mean it. I would take it back. I do the "View New Posts" thing everytime I come here. I don't come often so that is why there where tens of unread posts yesterday. I am not all out for studying and like to have fun too. I replied to a couple of threads non test related and you are right on your advice. I read the posts that I want and don't read the ones I don't want. That was like a friendly warning or observation since I like this place. About the reference of **** on Cable TV. Channels please? ;) Just kidding MA_PE. Thanks for the advice anyways.

Yeah, it's kinda that in between time where the results are all in and the study crush for October isn't here yet. So mainly I Shoot the Breeze.

I passed the exam over a year ago so I'm not studying, and I am chummy with the old timers here, so I do tend to get caught up in friendly/goofy posts with folks.

I do see your point. And I will need to get back on the exam prep wagon as things heat up.

And besides Undertaker - didn't you admit the other day that the first thing you do when you sign on is look for Fudgey posts?

I don't really understand the complaint. It's not ok to goof off and have a good time? If it wasn't a fun site you wouldn't have so many engineers hanging out here. Instead you'd only have people who are currently studying for the test, waiting for results or looking for information. People who took the test and passed would move on.

This site attracts people looking for information, looking for study buddies, looking for help...AND it has a bunch of Professional Engineers just hanging out waiting to answer questions.

What's the problem??

Yeah when you put it like that, that pretty much sums things up around here.

I had a pithy remark lined up, but was afraid fraz would show up at my office and kick my *** on Monday, so I refrained. But hey, that's another good thing about this site - sometimes you get a real world contact out of the deal.

What's causing the stress UT? You have 3 months before the exam.
What's causing the stress? I will tell you what. I have the feeling that I did everything in my power to pass the damn thing and I failed. I don't know what else I can do right now. That is the cause of my stress.

Ouch. Such a cute little girl, I am talking about the avatar, and how tough is she. It is OK to goof and have fun. I like it. As a matter of fact VTEnviro is right. I always read FudgePump's posts as soon as I log in. That's a good way to start so don't put a lable on me as a party "pooper". I have mentioned this place is the best engineer's forum available. Thank You very much. But looks like somebody did not read that part. Bottom line frazil: I have no problem goofing, having fun or having a good time. I am just somebody who fails looking for the difference. I hope we are cool now.

You know, when you put it like that, this really is a pretty good site. :)
In Undertaker's defense, I don't think he is saying not to have fun, I just think he is getting antsy waiting for some test prep stuff to get posted. He probably doesn't have a whole bunch of questions himself yet, but would like to see what other people are posting as it helps everybody when people start asking the questions. As far as that goes, I don't think it will be long before we start seeing people asking lots of questions. Peopl are just still recovering from the bad news, or haven't stumbled across this site in their preparations quite yet.
Thanks SapperPE. And you are right on the money. I don't have a bunch of questions right now. I worked pretty hard and failed and don't know what can I do different to pass. I am looking forward to read questions and answers that will help me to prepare better. Then I might have more questions. It is a like cycle.

Guys, and gals, hope I cleared this non issue. I am not against fun, goofing, and having a good time. I made a comment because in my mind was comparing this forum to another one that is completely useless. But of course you did not know that. Now you know.

Are we OK now?

I was there once UT and understand your point. If you allow me to give you an advice here it is:

Focus your study on your weak areas without being careless on the areas you did well.

You don't have to study harder, just smarter.

Good luck!!!!!!!!

I failed the first time and the second time and the third time. I really know how you feel. Fourth time worked for me, but it shouldn't have taken that long. Instead of looking back, look ahead. Don't let stress drain your energy. I know it's easier said than done, but try to keep your focus on the exam preparation that you are doing now. We'll be here for you when you need us.

Maybe it's just gas. I suggest you sit on the pot and squeeze for a bit. it might help.

Excellent! Thank you very much. I am taking your word on that last sentence.

I agree with that point.

Okay, comic relief is good for easing stress, too.
Also with this one

Don't get him started.
And with this one too.

hey Undertaker - I wasn't trying to chew you out. I was just giving you a hard time. Sorry if I came off as too tough! :) The main purpose of this site is to help people taking the PE - so if you don't think that is happening, you're absolutely right to say something. Good luck studying and I hope you'll stick around after you pass.

Probably I'll stay and also think I am getting help here. You know, not all the help is test prep related. It also has to be with approach, attitude and motivation. I am finding a lot of that here too. Hey!!!!! I am in such of a good mood today. Studied for about 4 hours and I made the most of it. Damn I am going to pass next time. Now is Bud time :beerchug: I earned it.

SapperPE sorry we dissapointed you
