A few years back the family and I drove to Ocean City, MD. We stopped at a rest stop in NJ. When my daughter (she was 3 y/o at the time) stepped out of the car she started complaining about the smell. I couldn't stop laughing. She had not idea we were in NJ.

(It was an H2S type odor. Likely from a nearby landfill)

this doesn't surprise me one bit

EDIT: however out in the sticks where I live, you don't get these odors
