Interesting. Please don't take this the wrong way, this is purely the result of having never, ever experienced Alaska, but I don't invision it as a pleasant place. I mean, I think of extreme cold for most of the year, and maybe like a month or two of decent (which to me is in the 50's or better and that's being generous) weather. I invision tundra and parkas.

I know I'm wrong, but that is what goes through my mind. Tell me I'm wrong, make me not hate (the idea of) your state!

Winters blow. I hat ethem. -40 for weeks on end, 4 hours of daylight. December and January suck, that's when I go on vacay to HI or SoCal. But summer make you forget how much it sucks in the winter. Right now it's 930 and the sun is still up and about 60. Perfect. Here in the interior the summer can get to upper 80s. You can drive 30 mins and be in complete wilderness. Can always get away from people. Which is nice.
