I knew him from PPI's forum (which I think is now closed down) but we had some issues with that site. Some of us liked to have fun, talk about what we had for lunch (seriously) at the exam or were planning on taking for lunch, etc. We were just blowing off steam you know, and we'd get banned. Road Guy started this the day after we took the April 2006 exam. He wanted it to be a fun place to wait for results instead of PPI's stuffy forum. We then, ahem, recruited other members from PPI... doing things like creating a new username over there and putting a link to this site in our signature or stuff like that. Ultimately, all of us got perman-IP-banned from there and the fun was over, but it didn't matter, we had gained a critical mass of people over here to make this site viable.

Those were the days.
That's pretty cool. I never even went over to the ppi site since I found this one first.
Sometimes down to earth engineers are hard to come by... This site has the best "critical mass" as you say.
