Have you seen this show on Discovery Channel? I have been catching up on the past episodes on hulu. It is a post-apocaliptic scenario where the volunteers are stranded in the wharehouse district of LA with no power or water, and simulated maraduers try to take thier stuff. pretty intresting builds they do for power sources.

I tried to watch one episode a few weeks ago where they had oranges and some people showed up to trade stuff and they faught over how many oranges to trade. I lost interest pretty immediately and figured it was all sensationalism and "reality" TV where they plot scenarios to try to cause friction between everyone there and wath the ensuing arguements.

I've had my fill of reality TV.

Today was the last day of "summer vacation" for the kids, so hopefully I have seen my last of Clifford, Dora, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, etc. for a while since homework will start to take up the evenings...

I was bored this afternoon, so I watched the first 5 episodes on Hulu. Every time Allison opens her mouth, I want to punch her in it. So far, I haven't seen her do any manual labor or contribute any cogent thoughts...much less good ideas. The rest of the characters have a pretty good usefulness to ******** ratio.

Pretty interesting from my perspective. I find the group dynamics fascinating, especially from a "who adds value to the team" perspective. If this guys were all employees, half would have been fired by now. But you can't really get rid of the dead weight (unless food becomes a lot more scarce!), so it's a challenge to find utility.

I didn't know you could use wood to run a power washer!

I saw part of two episodes over the weekend. The first bit I saw was the group collecting and assembling solar arrays. I thought that was pretty cool and everyone seemed to be working together pretty well. The next part I saw involved two new people arriving. I guess the producers of the show thought after the great teamwork on the solar panels everyone was getting along to well so they introduced these two new people to stir up trouble. They were stealing stuff, eating all the food, using all the water, etc.. Basically causing trouble. I got bored at this point and turned it off.

They are trying to present this whole thing as a real, psychological experiment by introducing different stimuli (outsiders joining the group, marauders trying to steal supplies, the electricity/TV coming on and going back off, etc.) and seeing how the group reacts. While I think that is an interesting concept, I think they focus too much on the personality conflicts and drama that occurs instead giving all areas of the experiment equal billing.

Oh shut up you donkey.... (sorry there's no <english accent> smiley. :f_115m_e45d7af: this is the best I could do)
You fat cow seems to be his word of choice this season, especially for the ladies. I like Hell's Kitchen...new episode tonight!!!!

Haven't seen it, but what became of that show that was a similar premise, only with kids? Lord of the Flies kind of scenario.

As for Hell's Kitchen, how do you people watch that show? If I wanted 60 minutes of consecutive yelling, I'd get married.
