Hello All,

My name is Ramesh. Found this form online.

It has been 18 years since i am out of college. I would like to sit for FE exams. Any one interested to form a study group please let me know.

I got a variety materials to study for the exam. I am looking for a motivated partner to join me to study. I have my basics and have sat for fe exams before. I could not pass. I found out that 1 or 3 month prepartion is not enough that is why i decided to take a long term approach.

I would like to prepare for this exam for at least 10 months. A weekly meeting for 4 hours should help us.

I am looking forward for a comitted partner who can stick around to accomplish the end result.

If you have interest please contact me at 512.299.6748

I live in Cranberry Township, PA.

We can meet online or in a common place if you are near by.

Sincerely,

-Ramesh

Hi Ramesh,

There is EIT course offered at Westinghouse Electric Company at Cranberry. This course is offered by the Penn State New Kensington. Check out their website, http://www.nk.psu.edu/Documents/CE/PE-EIT_Schedule_Chart.pdf

Its a paid training course for 14 weeks, I have gone through their PE course for Mechanical Engineering, and I would highly recommend it to you for the EIT. It is worth paying for it if you are struggling through the material, especially the EIT since you were out of school for such a long time.

You can also contact this person at the campus for more information:

Also have you tried the prep material from here: http://ppi2pass.com/

Good Luck

Thanks for the information Nancy.

I am unable for the time committment to move in a 14 weeks pace.

I have been to 3 short term courses and have all the materials i need. The problem however is to sit and work out the homework and thoroughly digest the material. Short term courses rush me through the material and I am unable to digest the workload in that short time.

Currently I have all the materials i need. I am looking for a motivated person to study along with me. I may be slow but feel it is better to be slow rather than to rush and fail in the exams.

Thanks

-Ramesh

Ramesh,

I see your situation, the problem is that many college graduates take the exam right after they finish.

So you are looking for people who are in the same boat as you, and that would be very difficult if not impossible, since they are also leading a hectic lifestyle in there late 20s to 30s. I would recommend posting on the http://www.ppi2pass.com website for your request, if you have not done it already.

In the end, it will come done to the fact if you are self-motivated enough to take this exam and study for it. You will have to force yourself to sit down and study and do tons and tons of practice problems. That is the only way to pass, do practice problems, and for that you can't work with someone. I suggest spending 2-3 hours on weekdays doing practice problems, and 5-6 on Sat and Sunday doing the study material and more practice problems. Plan to put in 300 hours of work before you take the exam again. That is how I studied for the PE exam (hopefully I passed). I believe the same routine will be used to prepare for the FE exam.

If you have the Michael Lindburg book read the introduction and follow his schedule for preparing. Become motivated, no one else can motivate you, the self-drive comes from within.

Good Luck!!!

By the way, I am not Nancy, that was a reference person from Penn State.

I can help you prepare if you want, if I pass my PE exam this October, or else I will be hitting the books again till next April. I live near the Wexford Area of Pittsburgh.

Appreciate sir, for you taking the time to reply. Sorry for thinking that you were Nancy.

I will look in to posting forms as you had indicated. I also got materials for Ensys.net

Mr. Ali of ensys has extended one hour of his time in helping me on checking the home work on a weekly basis. If i need more help i will sure to take your offer. Thank you very much. I a pretty familiar with Wexford, highway 19 and Mcknight road.

Hello Ramesh,

Aneesu left some great advice, and the note about needing to be self motivated and disciplined in preparing for the exam is so true. There's no doubt that after being out of college for some time, you may be feeling some overwhelm right up front. The fact that you have been through the process once gives you some good info to go off of though in preparing this time. Take some time to reflect on your past review sessions so that you can determine why it was that you weren't successful. It probably isn't because you couldn't learn the information, but that you may have been unorganized in your approach to preparing. The accelerated schedule was probably the reason for this, forcing you to jump ahead in topics before you felt proficient in the one you were studying at the time; the fact that you are recognizing that you need to prepare in a slower manner is great. Take Aneesu's advice in looking to the PPI review manual for a rough study schedule. Take that schedule and tweak it to fit your desired time frame, strengths, and weaknesses.

Congratulations on taking the initiative to tackle this exam again. That shows that you have the determination and vigor necessary to adjust and make things happen. The process of preparing for the exam is analogous with the Engineering life where we are always taking and learning from our past experiences, adjusting, and innovating. Keep up the good work, keep your head up, and keep looking for some people to study with. With technology the way that it is, you can do some great things over the internet that we couldn't just a few short years ago.

I hope that helps a little, take care!
