Rivington Biscuits began trading biscuits and wafers in 1996. Through the successful take over from the European Leader the Van Delft Group a few years ago, the business has now grown into one of the leading manufacturer and suppliers of biscuits and wafers to both UK and export markets.

Rivington Biscuits not only manufacture on behalf of the major retailers, they are also the proud owners of their own brands such as Montana, Granola Barn, Pink Panther and Fair Break. This volume of produce amounts to approximately 200,000,000 biscuits per year!

The Van Delft Group have successfully developed one of the largest cookie manufacturer's in The Netherlands, Van Delft Biscuits Holland, and are on track to do the same with Rivington Biscuits in Wigan. This is evident as the site is undergoing some well-needed investment, up-skilling and new client relationships.

The new face of Rivington Biscuits will be released early next year. Job Description

Reporting into the Managing Director and working alongside the Engineering Projects Manager, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for maintaining and optimising the partially automated machinery and utility facilities. You will support the production teams by guiding more complex product changeovers or size transitions.

As Engineering Manager you will also collaborate with machinery suppliers and external professionals for more specialised maintenance or repair work on automated equipment. You will take full responsibility on site, operating within defined procedures, plans, budgets, programmes, etc.

The Successful Applicant

To be considered for the role of Engineering Manager, based in Wigan, you will be experienced with the following points:
  • Preferably be a degree educated engineer, however HNC/D or time served will be given due consideration.

A proven track record of experience in the Food / FMCG or packaging sectors, candidates who have baking experience will be looked on favourably.
Excellent technical knowledge, you will understand mechanical and electrical engineering issues and be viewed as the technical champion on site.
Ensure that planned maintenance is applied on all plant and equipment throughout the factory to achieve maximum plant efficiency and minimise plant breakdown across all functions.
Demonstrate excellent leadership skills - capable of organising, persuading, delegating and coaching.
Take responsibility for capital investment engineering projects as well as external contractors.
Show the ambition and commercial acumen to support a business with ambitious growth plans.
