Died today on his 79th birthday.

given the longevity of folks these days...he was on the younger side.

I'm not a huge country fan but I certainly have heard of Merle....RIP

I grew up listening to that era of country music (It's what my mother had on the radio).  Lately, I find myself listening to that old music (Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, David Allen Coe.....).  I think it's because I sort of miss the days when my biggest worry was not wrecking the PTO shaft on my uncle's hay bailer..

Much respect to Merle. Eric church put out a good honor song a while back "Pledge allegiance to the Hag".

Just finished my workout while listening to the Merle station on Spotify. Pretty good mix.

RIP Merle, sing them songs with Johnny!

Sorry to see him go.  I've wanted to see several of these guys in person (Cash, Jennings, Haggard) but they keep dying.  I have managed to see Willie, and we're going to see Charlie Daniels tomorrow night.
