I'm just not sure how to approach earthwork problems. In the solution, I understand finding the Density required at 95%, and then the weight of the solids in the fill...from there, I'm lost. Could anyone give me the logic behind this solution, or logic to approaching earthwork borrow/fill problems? Thank you!!

Ws(borrow)=Ws (fill)

Dry density (borrow)x Volume (borrow) = Dry density (fill) x Volume (fill)

You have Dry density (borrow)=SG x water density/(1+e),

Dry density (fill) required,

Volume (fill) =1 ft^3,

you'll get Volume (borrow) .
