Does anyone know where I can find some good information (websites etc...) on power electronic circuits used for AC-DC conversion and in VFD's similar to those shown in the sample exams.

I am looking to learn more specificlly on calculating the magnitudes of the ouput DC voltages, and the effect various situations have on the primary AC waveforms.

Also I'm looking for a basic explanation and necessary calculations for transistors or IGBT's used on output of VFD that is shown in sample problems?

Thanks

I've not found any of the silicon controller stuff you're looking for, but NEMA has a free download on their web site called "Application Guide for AC Adjustable Drive Systems". It's about an 80 page booklet that covers a lot of aspects of variable speed (VFD) drives.

http://www.nema.org/stds/acadjustable.cfm

You'll have to "create an account" to download it, but it's freely available.
