Is there pass rates for the PE exam by state if so, where can I find it. In addition, is it true that the PE exam is easier in certain states when compared to other state i.e easier in Wisconsin than Illinois?

Thanks

I know where you can find the pass rates for Texas! :) It's on the State board's web site... probably the same for most states. NCEES may have something on their site, but I'm not positive.

Everyone takes the same exam, except in states where they have additional exams that you have to pass. That makes it easier to have reciprocity among states. Otherwise, you'd have the Illinois board saying "Nope, you passed in Wisconsin but that's an easier test, you have to take it again here"

There are several reasons why pass rates may differ from state to state, but it has nothing to do with the test itself. Some states allow people to test based on experience alone (no degree required). Also, some allow you to test after 2 years of experience, most require 4. So, I would guess that someone with no degree or less experience would have more trouble so states that allow that would have lower pass rates? Also, the people in some states are just smarter than others :D

Thanks

I agree with TXengrchick! Also, I would think it also depends on the industries that are present on each state and whetehr or not a PE is required. The day of the exam I met several people that were taking it but did not really needed it.
