@JayKay PE I feel like the world has lied to me. 

I want to make a good basic apple pie. I am not making my own crust for the first go 'round. Any suggestions on brands to buy?

Sorry for the delay.  Literally left for a quick lunch before I saw this, and then came back to a spam-alanche.  Best brand I've found to use when it's store bought is Pilsbury, hands down.  It doesn't look homemade, but all the preservatives def make sure it doesn't collapse.  I like to blind-bake all my pie crusts, store bought or not, so keep that in mind especially for apple pies, which tend to have a ton of moisture.  Do you know what type of apple you're using to bake?
